First, I'd like to point out that it's exciting to be at 12/1/12, a ternary day which is formulated in base3 - I think binary is so over. The bit is dead, long live the trit.Back in Pittsburgh. Met S at the Bastille.
This is, of course, the first day of the First Annual Soupaneuring Challenge which is a lot like the first day of hunting season except it doesn't involve blaze orange or stray bullets flying through children's bedrooms. Kudos and accoladed go out to Edmonds59 for posting the first report.
We had planned to ride out to the Bulgarian Macedonian National Educational and Cultural Center in West Homestead because they have killer soup on Saturdays. Unfortunately we got there after they closed, so it'll be another Saturday for Bulgarian Macedonian Soup.
We can roll with that, the adventure is the space between the plan and the experience, so we headed out in search of Alt-Soup and ran right into the Homestead Christmas Parade, and so we
I had heard great things about Tin Front Cafe, a vegetarian place on the main strip, so we headed over there. My first Soupaneuring trip included potato leek soup and a cup of cortado. The soup was very interesting, it really addressed the full palate and the texture was interesting (tasted good, too).
I like the Tin Front Cafe and they have a way-cool patio space in the back. I wonder if they'd let you just wheel your bike back there instead of locking it up on Eighth Avenue.
On the return I took this photo showing some progress on the Sandcastle portion of the trail project. A major length of fence between the Sandcastle lot and the railroad tracks has been removed.
